Lewerentz fragments is a 192 × 224 mm 288-page volume, printed on 120 gsm uncoated Munken Polar, with three false gatefolds, and two 12-page signatures of archival imagery printed on 115 gsm Munken Matte. The book was printed in Denmark at Narayana Press, and is bound in grey princess linen, with black endpapers, grey headbands, and black foil stamping on the front and back covers and the spine. Images comprise a mix of archival and current photography and are printed in full-color, with black-and-white images in the main text and margins rendered in quadtones. Text is set in Optimo's Theinhardt, 3 mm type on a 4 mm line increment, with marginal notes 2.25 on 3 mm. The typography is simple and straightforward, reflecting the seriousness, simplicity, and craft of the subject at hand.This book was published by Actar in 2021. I co-edited the project with Jonathan Foote, Hansjörg Göritz, and Matthew Hall. The chapter I authored, Lewerentz quantizes, explores the unusual role of proportion in the ratiometric space-making in Lewerentz’ built environments, specifically the Church of St Peters in Klippan.

		<description>Complete design and typography for the cover and interior pages of Endangered architecture: the work of Bernt Nyberg. A 204 × 204 mm 96-page soft-bound book, with interior pages on 120 gsm uncoated Munken Polar. Typeset in Christian Schwartz’ Bau, with images printed in duotines of black and Pantone cool grey 9. Cover is double-hit white on 350 gsm Colorplan Smoke. Printing and binding took place in Denmark at Narayana Press.&#38;nbsp;This publication catalogues the work of Swedish architect Bernt Nyberg and accompanied an exhibition of photographs of his work.

The design of this book is based on the Pell series (or a series of numbers quite like it), using integers to approximate the square root of two—a reference to the square that structures much of Nyberg’s work. These numbers were generated using a custom python library that can be found here: github.com/njmattes/pellish.&#38;nbsp;

		<description>My practice is fiercely anti-disciplinary and ruthlessly collaborative. It operates on the principle that the best outcomes are the result of the worst arguments amongst the most people. I am most pleased when my work engages with the gaps, moments, mistakes, and fictive spaces between things. I don’t particularly care what those things might be, nor what medium, material, or mess from which they are constructed. 
I reject the notion that design is able to offer solutions to problems and instead insists that problems are the output of any worthwhile design practice. I hopes to leave behind a series of interesting ones.&#38;nbsp;
